Vanagon Dometic 182B Diagnosticians, for your viewing pleasure...I present pictures of my Dometic 182b running from a BBQ LPG tank with the flame box opened.
Problem found & solved?
I gave the burner jet a very thorough cleaning: hydrochloric acid / sulfuric acid flush, followed by isopropanol. It seems to have made a big difference in flame height.
Notice particularly the side-view before & after shots -- i'd estimate that after cleaning, the flame size/volume/heat output is now at least double, if not triple what it was.
Notes:
- the BBQ tank regulator used in these pictures was putting out about 12.5" to 13" of pressure. Dometic specifications call for 11", so this flame may be a tiny bit larger than it should be.
- i replaced all gaskets with high temperature RTV. This throws off the alignment of the piezo ignitor electrode a bit, which is why mine was glowing red. I bent it back to the normal location before reinstalling it.
