Norcold 3163 in a Eurovan - Adding extra insulation
BackMy Norcold 3163 works well most of the time, but seems to have trouble in extreme heat
-- driving, or camping when the outside temperature is over 100F (38C) the fridge can't
keep an internal temperature below 50F. Based on the theory that this represents "heat soak"
through the sides of the fridge, I decided to try adding extra insulation panels.
I added panels to the wall of the van (to reduce heat soaking in from sun on the left side of the van).
I was able to add full panels to the bottom and back of the fridge, and a partial panel to the top.

Notes
- I used 1/2 inch silvered foam core (available at most Lowe's and Home Depot)
- I was easily able to add a layer to fully cover bottom, fully cover the back, and cover about 3/4 of the top.
- it didn't seem easy to add insulation to the left side or right side, due to lack of space and/or hardware in the way.
- I have not tested this yet, but will report back when it gets hot.
