This page shows how, under IE8, the quicktime plugin setting SCALE=TOFIT, SCALE=ASPECT
(or, in fact, any scale mode other that 1.0) causes the video playback to use a very poor scaling algorithm.
To reproduce:
- Open the following page in IE6 on XPSP3, or IE8 on XPSP3 or Win7:
For Windows
Make the window large (at least 1440x900 in size) to clearly see the issue
Double click the movie to play (warning: has audio!)
- Open the following page in Safari on Mac:

Make the window large (at least 1440x900 in size) to clearly see the issue
Double click the movie to play (warning: has audio!)
- Important Note regarding Regression: We do NOT see the bug in XPSP3 with IE6, but do see the bug in all versions of IE8, IE9, and IE10. Thus, it was working fine in IE6, and something broke in later versions.
